Man Sees Neighbor — Who Is a Single Mom — Needs a New Fence and Builds It for Free: See Before and After

One lucky woman got a new fence thanks to her neighbor — who did it for free.

The act of service was chronicled on TikTok by a social media user who goes by Uncle Jhonn and has now gained over 14 million views.

"So today I was riding down the street, and that's when I noticed my neighbor's fence laying on the ground. So I've decided to replace it completely for free, just because I'm retired young and I ain't got nothing else better to do. Plus, I'm sure if they could afford to get it done, it would have been done by now," said the good Samaritan at the start of the clip

He continued the video by explaining that the neighbor is a single mom with a son.

"The person that answered the door was her mom, and when I asked her about the fence, she said they've been wanting to get it down for, like, two to three years now," Uncle Jhonn said. "But every time they try to get a contractor or someone to come out and look at it, it was well over $6,000 to get it replaced."

He added that the single mom was going through several struggles, including being in an accident about three months ago "that caused her to completely total her car and caused serious injury to her neck." The TikTok user also said the woman had lost her husband about three years ago.

"Y'all know it can only be God that led me to stop by and knock on that door," Uncle Jhonn said.

After assessing the condition of the fence, he said he decided to build the woman a whole new one.

"It cost me, like, right over $2,000 to do, and that's simply because everything that I use is built to last, so they don't never have to worry about this fence falling over again," he said.

He ended his video by vouching to rebuild an entire neighborhood.

Uncle Jhonn tells PEOPLE that what motivates him to help others is "the belief that small acts of kindness can create a ripple effect."
