Halo Top Has 8 First-Of-Their-Kind New Ice Creams—and We Tried Them First
Get your spoons ready!
Halo Top entered the grocery scene in 2012 and quickly gained a massive following. The brand's light ice cream boasted fewer calories and sugar than traditional ice cream with the added perk of protein. Such products were uncommon at the time of its launch, making Halo Top a standout in the industry. By 2017, its soaring sales had catapulted the lower-calorie brand to the top of the U.S. ice cream market, surpassing freezer aisle staples like Ben & Jerry’s. This success likely helped secure it a spot on Time Magazine’s list of 25 best inventions of the year.
Over time, Halo Top has grown from just a few introductory flavors to now over 25 options, including Birthday Cake, Red Velvet, and Chocolate Mocha Chip. Not to mention, it’s expanded the lineup to include yogurt bars, fruit bars, and baking mixes, which continue offering fans a lower sugar alternative to other mixes on shelves.
Now, Halo Top is kicking off the new year with not one, not two, but eight new flavors of its protein-packed ice cream.
Halo Top’s New Ice Cream Lineup Hits Shelves
For the first time, fans of Halo Top will be able to enjoy ice cream mix-ins. The brand’s new pints have a variety of rich and textured choices that include brownie chunks, real fruit pieces, and more. By adding mix-ins to its beloved ice cream, Halo Top hopes to offer more indulgent choices while keeping in line with the nutritional value its customers have come to expect.
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough: The brand doubles down on taste by incorporating cookie dough chunks and a cookie-dough-flavored ice cream base, which together create a dream bite for fans of this iconic flavor.
Chocolate Fudge Brownie: This variety is made with chocolate ice cream and loaded with chunks of chewy fudge brownies. Brownie batter is swirled throughout the pint, offering fans a rich, decadent taste but in a protein-forward form.
Cherry Chocolate Chunk: Those who love the flavors of cherry cordials can appreciate this frozen spin on the classic confection. Black cherry ice cream is dotted with Bordeaux cherries and chocolate chunks for a sweet and fruity-tasting dessert.
Cookies & Brownies: This ice cream brings together two of the most popular baked goods in the dessert world. Each pint is a combination of cookie dough ice cream and chocolate ice cream. The chunks of cookie dough and soft brownie bites will satisfy all your brookie cravings.
Caramel Cookie Crunch: This Caramel-flavored ice cream is highlighted with silky ribbons of caramel and chocolate-covered cookie pieces for a flavor that Twix lovers will appreciate.
Strawberry Cheesecake: Real strawberry pieces are at the center of this bakery-inspired frozen treat. It features Cheesecake-flavored ice cream, and graham cracker pie crust swirls throughout the pint, giving it a true-to-name taste.
Sweet Cream Cold Brew: You can enjoy the flavors of the coffee shop right at home with Halo Top’s cold brew flavor. The brand has thought of everything, including ribbons of whipped cream along with mocha chunks in the coffee ice cream base so fans can dig into a frozen version of their favorite cup of Joe.
P.B. Cookie Dough & Fudge: Perfect for Reese’s fans, it combines the dynamic duo of peanut butter and chocolate with chewy peanut butter cookie dough pieces and a generous fudge swirl.
We Tried Them First
Editor Andrea Lobas got a sneak peek at the brand's new treats. Overall, each variety delivers on the promise of flavor-packed spoonfuls. "My favorite flavor was actually a surprise. The Cherry Chocolate Chunk was the unexpected sleeper hit of the bunch, with bright fruit flavor and satisfying chocolate chip bites. That was followed by the P.B. Cookie Dough & Fudge and the Strawberry Cheesecake—which I fully expected to love. While the texture is lighter than traditional ice cream, the mix-ins kick it up a notch, and the taste is spot on," she reported.
Halo Top fans can snag these new flavors starting in January at select retailers. But don’t worry if you can’t find them at your local store right away, the new flavors will have a full nationwide rollout in March.
