Canadian meteorologist Kelsey McEwen calls out new TikTok filter: 'Scary'

Kelsey McEwen is not here for TikTok's "Bold Glamour" beauty filters.

On Tuesday, the Canadian meteorologist for CTV's "Your Morning" shared a message on TikTok, calling out their latest filter technology — and dubbing it "scary."

"Here is an example of one of those filters we were talking about on the show — how you can't get it to drop," McEwen began, nothing that the filter doesn't "drop off" when you shift your face. "They're getting smarter."

"In the past, you could go like this," she said, using one of her hands to cover half of her face," and it would disappear. But now it stays."

"Imagine if all the content you're viewing is filtered like this. Scary," she concluded.

On today's episode of "Your Morning," self-love and body positivity advocate Danae Mercer spoke about the danger of beauty filters.

This isn't the first time that McEwen has publicly called out beauty filters. Back in August, she shared a message on her Instagram Story, showing off what she looks like with and without a filter to challenge unrealistic beauty standards.

"Don't compare your 'real' to their 'reel,'" she penned in the on-screen text over a video of herself posing in a hot pink top, first with a beauty filter, then without. "Filtered or not, you are worthy as you are."

Lines, pores, freckles, nose shape, eye colour, it's all worth showing and nothing to be ashamed of," she continued, adding, "If you like filters, use them. But never forget you are worthy of love without them, too."

Last month, McEwen also hit back at a commenter who criticized her on-air look.

"Welcome back @KelseyMcEwen #WeatherGirl from @YourMorning," the commenter wrote. "How come none of your cohorts haven't told you #PantyLines #CamelToe #BubbleButt #RedIsNotYourFriend."

McEwen replied to the tweet, letting the troll know she felt "zero shame" about her appearance.

"Listen, I own my body, camel toe and bubble butt included," she penned. Your words bring me zero shame. Your feelings about my body and outfit are a you problem, not a me problem. And red? Red is [fire]. The only thing that isn’t my friend here, is you."
