Odell Beckham Jr. Talks Skincare, Kordell and Serena, and the Super Bowl
You heard it here first: Odell Beckham Jr. is 2025's most unexpected beauty muse and I—along with the rest of Team Cosmo—am so here for it. In addition to his daytime gig (ya know, just being a superstar NFL wide receiver), OBJ has been busy starring in MAC’s sexiest campaign yet (obsessed is an understatement), posting fitness selfies on IG, and now? He's getting real about a personal skin condition called seborrheic dermatitis, which is basically just a fancy name for itchiness and flaking in his beard and hairline.
I caught up with OBJ to talk about his skin and scalp journey, his bond with his brother Kordell (aka one-half of our favorite Love Island couple), the upcoming Super Bowl, and more. Read on for the full conversation.
OBJ on normalizing skin and scalp conditions:
"I came to find out millions of people have seborrheic dermatitis. I don't think it's anything to be embarrassed about because our bodies do what our bodies do. I'm somebody who is more for finding a solution than hiding from a problem, so it's important to talk to a specialist and find something that works for you. For me, it's all about being healthy, obviously looking good, and feeling my best on the inside and the outside."
On his seborrheic dermatitis:
"Within the last three years, I noticed something going on with my beard that wasn't being solved by putting vitamin E oil on it. Then about a year ago I found ZORYVE [editor's note, Zoryve is a topical Rx foam that treats seb derm] and it really works for me. I experience symptoms—white flaky skin and an uncomfortable burning and itching sensation—mainly on my beard and a little bit on my hairline, but I'm kind of focused on attacking the beard."
On his recent interest in self-care:
"To be honest, I never did much self-care in the past or had any rituals like that. I am as God made me, you know, this is what I am. Only until a couple of years ago, with having sebderm, did I start giving more on the self-care side. Every morning I wake up, say a prayer, and take a cold shower to recalibrate for the day."
On his brother Kordell:
"It's just funny because my brother was so up in the air trying to figure out what he was going to do with his life. And now it's just so amazing to see, like, this is my little brother. I've always been, like, 'I got you regardless, whatever it is you want to do, I'm here to support you in your future.' And to see his glow up and blow up, I'm absolutely in love with it. I'm so proud of him. Being able to meet Serena and welcome her into the family. I'm happy for him and everything that he's got going on. I love to see that he's he's made his way."
On giving Kordell life advice:
"You can't teach anyone about fame or how it's going to hit you. Someone who has come before you can give you advice, but we all go through our life experiences on our own and that's the only way you're really able to learn. So Kordell's found his own way. I'm always there for him on an advice front, but he's done an amazing job and it's just been so great to see him glow up."
On his recent MAC Cosmetics campaign and staying present:
"You know, it was great. It was a favor for a friend, but it's always fun trying and doing new things. My life's moving so fast and there is always so much going on. I just try to focus on where I'm at, you know, like right here today but also be excited about other things in the works for the future."
On the upcoming Super Bowl in New Orleans:
"I feel like this will be one of the most exciting matchups. I love that it's in my city and I'm able to go back home—there are so many things and opportunities going on. My brother Saquon Barkley is playing. We got the story of Pat Mahomes and what the Chiefs have going on too. So I'm just excited about the matchup. I can't give you any predictions, but I just am really looking forward to this game."
