Popular sports bar and restaurant opens new Bradenton location. Here are the details
Just in time for the last weekend of 2024, Food + Beer is opening its newest Manatee County location.
The restaurant and sports bar will open Friday in the Lockwood Commons shopping center at 4286 53rd Ave. E., Bradenton, according to a news release.
It will mark the seventh location in Florida for Food + Beer co-founders Mike Whalen and Casey Daniels. They debuted the local chain in 2018 in Sarasota.
The Lockwood Commons restaurant has 200 seats, an outdoor patio with an inside/outside bar and a video wall featuring eight connected 70-inch TVs.
The sports bar’s food menu offers various appetizers, wings, burgers, sandwiches, salads, rice bowls and more. There’s also the Big Mick food challenge for $29.99. Diners are challenged to eat two buffalo chicken grilled cheese sandwiches, four bacon strips, two cheeseburger patties, two eggs, french fries, caramelized onions and chipotle cream cheese in exchange for bragging rights and a t-shirt.
The drink menu includes cocktails, wine and beer (craft and domestic).
Food + Beer opens second Bradenton restaurant
The restaurant’s menu items are made from scratch, the news release said.
“Our mission has always been to create a place where people can enjoy high-quality food without breaking the bank,” Whalen said in the news release. “Whether you’re here for a casual meal with friends, a sports game, or a weekend brunch with family, we want everyone to have a great experience.”
There are also vegetarian options, the news release said.
Food + Beer restaurants have weekly specials and events such as Cheeseburger Monday, Taco Tuesday, Team Trivia Wednesday and a weekend brunch.
It’s the second Bradenton location for the local chain. The original restaurant is located at 4808 14th St. W., Bradenton.

The new restaurant will be open seven days a week:
10 a.m. - 1 a.m. Sunday
11 a.m. - 1 a.m. Monday - Thursday
11 a.m. - 2 a.m. Friday
10 a.m. - 2 a.m. Saturday
