Ree Drummond Says Daughter Alex's Husband Was So Supportive During Labor She 'Questioned' Whether She Needed to Be There

Alex Drummond's husband was her biggest cheerleader when she gave birth — so much so that Ree Drummond wasn't even sure she needed to be in the room.

On Wednesday, Dec. 18, the Pioneer Woman star shared that she'd become a grandmother after her daughter Alex Drummond Scott welcomed her first baby with husband Mauricio Scott. After she shared the exciting news, Drummond, 55, wrote an article on her website about the experience, sharing that Scott was so supportive of her daughter, she almost felt like she didn't need to be there.

"Alex did great, and so did Mauricio," Drummond wrote. "We arrived in Dallas and got to see them in the hospital just as Alex was transitioning from latent to active labor, and it was so wonderful to see how much they love and support each other."

"Mauricio attended to Alex's every need, to the point that the rest of us questioned if we even needed to be there," she joked. "What a gift to Ladd and me, for Alex to have a partner in life who demonstrates love through such clear action."

Alex, 27, first announced the exciting news that she'd welcomed her first baby, a daughter named Sofia Marie, with her husband Mauricio, on Instagram. She posted a gallery of black and white photos of the couple with their new baby.

"At 2:27am our perfect girl made her arrival a couple weeks early, just in time for Christmas! We are so in love and forever changed," the couple's caption read. "Thank you Lord."

In October, Alex shared pictures on Instagram from her floral-themed baby shower attended by family and friends, and also revealed the name she and her husband picked out for their baby girl.

"Yesterday was everything I could ever dream of celebrating our Sofia Marie. 🥹💕," she captioned the post, shared on Sunday, Oct. 20. "Praise the Lord for these wonderful women and so many more!"

Photos from the baby shower showed Alex's magenta and white floral dress, as well as her friends and family wearing floral and pink ensembles. Alex also showed off a gift basket embroidered with Sofia's initials.
