One mom is sharing what she received from her family for Christmas this year after going viral for sharing what was not on her list.
It all began when a mom named Jessica, who goes by @mooneyhamjessica on social media, shared in a TikTok video how on Dec. 23, she went to Target and came across men and their children buying their wives "last-minute crap" gifts: candles, cheap jewelry and blankets.
"We don't want that," Jessica says in the video while sitting in her car. "You have 364/5 days to shop for us. Get us what we want. I sent Kirk my wishlist six weeks ago, so help me God. If I don't get something off that wishlist and all I get are crappy candles and blankets from Target, I will lose my everlasting mind."
"This mom has been making the magic happen for 12 f--king Christmases, so dads, come on, do better," she continues. "It's ridiculous the number of dads in there buying crap for their wives."

Speaking to PEOPLE about the video, Jessica recalls that when she saw all the dads frantically shopping, her first thought was, “How sad for these women who are about to get disappointed not just by the thoughtless last-minute gifts, but also — what are they teaching their children?”
“These dads were buying the only gifts last-minute,” she says. “You could tell these weren’t stocking stuffers or just extra purchases; these were the gifts. I’ve spent months, like most moms have, buying gifts and tucking away in the corner of my brain what people in my family want/need. I’ve spent hours wrapping, baking and getting matching Christmas morning outfits, and in that moment, it made me so mad that men could get away with just waiting until the last minute.”
"I know there are a million scenarios one could come at me with ... but the truth is, moms have to lower their expectations every Christmas," she continues. "I don’t ever want my sons to see their spouses as an 'afterthought' or their spouses to have to 'lower their expectations.' "
After posting about the moment at Target on TikTok, Jessica's video went viral, amassing more than 812,000 views and 3,500 comments. In the comments, TikTok users chimed in, sharing similar experiences.
"Mine are always from the checkout lane at TJ Maxx on the 24th. This year he's getting a divorce for Christmas. So done," one user commented on the video.
"My husband is a last-minute gift buyer, but he goes to Chanel… so he gets a pass from me 😅🤷🏽♀️," another user wrote.
Someone else said, "The best gift I’ve given myself is teaching my young sons (9 and 7) how to shop for people. It’s a continual process, but I am not producing humans that keep this cycle going."
"When I saw it go viral, my first thought was that I wished I hadn’t made it sound like I was worried my husband would let me down because he is an incredible gift giver. When people started calling me ungrateful or asking to see what I get, it did make me realize how lucky I am," Jessica says.
On Dec. 25, after Christmas morning, Jessica returned to TikTok to share what she received from her family this holiday season. From her 9-year-old son, she got a candle from Ulta, purchased on Dec. 14, plus St. Tropez tanning lotion and Good Patches.
"Yes, my husband was one of those husbands who took my son shopping to get me gifts," she says in the video. "Very different from the dads at Target who were picking their only gifts, not stocking stuffers, something extra. This feels very different."
"Also, I did get a stocking from my husband every year," she continues, adding how he purchased her favorite gum, candy and other goodies.
Afterward, Jessica showed the rest of the gifts her family bought her: a cooking pan, which she remembers mentioning last Christmas; a new Oura ring, which was on her list; a new handbag; and perfume.
"That is my Christmas haul," she says. "I knew my husband was going to take care of me. He always does. He's very thoughtful ... I mean the fact that he remembered this [pan] from last Christmas, I knew he was storing all of this in his head."
"I hope all of you got a candle, a blanket, if that's what you wanted, I know a lot of you didn't get anything and that was something I hated reading in all of the comments," she continues. "I know a lot of you are widowed or single moms and I feel sorry for my original TikTok, and for how it came across, as though everyone gets something because I know a lot of people get nothing."
