Just when you thought the novelty-scented candle market bubble was about to burst (e.g., Goop’s ubiquitous vagina-scented candle or the candle inspired by Jacob Elordi’s bath water, nodding to the viral Saltburn scene), Literie ups the ante. Introducing the ‘Drones Over New Jersey’ candle featuring a that (apparently) captures the mystery of the recent aerial phenomena over the Garden State. Yes, really.
The brand, which offers novelty and pop-culture-inspired candles including ‘Pizza From a Guy Named Joe’ and ‘Late Fees at the Library,’ says its newest offering is designed to evoke “conspiracy and fear.”
“Since the holidays are driving us crazy, we thought a crazy new candle would do the trick,” the brand wrote in an Instagram post featuring the candle hovering against a drone-filled, darkly-lit sky, announcing the new candle’s launch. “... Our newest scent for our friends in New Jersey.”
Just like the origins of the extra-large drones lighting the skies of Jersey, the actual fragrance notes of this quirky candle remain a mystery. Still, the brand insists the candle’s enigmatic aroma will encourage you to fruitlessly attempt to pin down the source of the drones while conjuring up plenty of juicy conspiracy theories along the way, of course.
Even if it doesn’t shine light on any worthy theories about the nebulous Tri-state drones, Literie makes a solid candle, and we’re pretty sure it’ll smell amazing. Crafted with a vegan soy and coconut wax blend, this candle ensures a clean burn, like the exhaust of an alien craft.
It’s time to get out the red string and really map your theories out. The ‘Drones Over New Jersey’ candle is available for pre-order now.
