Starbucks' Newest Drink Has Fans Feeling Nostalgic for a Favorite
Valentine’s Day might be the holiday of chocolates and flowers, but coffee and tea deserve some consideration, too. Thankfully, Starbucks is here to help!
The mega coffee chain debuted a brand new Refresher flavor just in time for Valentine’s Day. Everyone, say hello to Blackberry! The Blackberry Sage Refresher, Blackberry Sage Lemonade Refresher, and Midnight Drink combine sweet blackberries and earthy notes of sage with water, lemonade, or coconut milk, respectively. The result? A cold shaken mocktail-inspired beverage that’s bound to awaken the senses during the month of love.
“Herbs are popular in mixology, they add a hint of warmth to perfectly balance the sweet, juicy flavors of the blackberry fruit,” Starbucks lead beverage developer Billy Altieri said. “It’s a bit of a surprising flavor combination, and we’re excited for our customers to try it!” Fans were excited to hear about the launch but also took to social media to beg the coffee company to bring back the Very Berry Hibiscus: "BRING BACK VERRY BERRY HIBISCUS PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEE😔" and "we just want the very berry hibiscus back pleaseeeee. 🌺" Another said, "that was my go to Starbucks order back in the day 🥹"
No word on that customer favorite, but the brand did bring back two of its cult-favorite Valentine’s Day sips: the Chocolate-Covered Strawberry Crème Frappuccino and Chocolate Hazelnut Cookie Cold Brew. Where the former pairs blended strawberry puree, Frappuccino chips, milk, and ice with whipped cream and mocha drizzle, the latter showcases a classic Starbucks Cold Brew infused with vanilla syrup and topped off with hazelnut cream cold foam and chocolate cookie crumble.
Meanwhile, if you don’t want to forgo your go-to Starbucks order this February, there’s always the option to switch up how you drink it. Along with a menu update, Starbucks also introduced a line of pixelated Valentine’s Day cold cups and tumblers. Snag one while supplies last.
