Subscribers have crowned the Coast’s cutest dog. Now we’re looking for the cutest cat

Our subscribers have spoken, and Charlie, a Yorkie mix, is the cutest dog on the Mississippi Coast. Charlie finished with 44 percent of the more than 20,000 votes that were cast in our poll.

Owner Gina Shipton said Charlie has overcome a rough start to his life to flourish in her household after being adopted from Tired Dog Rescue in Gulfport.

“When the rescue organization acquired Charlie, he was in poor condition. He had heartworms and was underweight. They provided him with the necessary medical care to restore his health, making him eligible for adoption.”

Shipton said the decision to adopt Charlie wasn’t an easy one.

“Initially, I was apprehensive as I had never cared for a dog undergoing heartworm treatment. I was advised to prevent him from getting excited or running around,” she said. “To ensure his well-being, I kept him in a designated room to minimize overexcitement.”

As voters could see, Charlie now has a new lease on life, with Shipton adding that he “has flourished into a delightful companion. He has brought immense joy to our lives, and his canine sisters, Nola and Daisy, adore his presence.”

And now that the dogs have had their fun. it’s time to put the Coast’s cats in the spotlight. Having crowned the Coast’s cutest dog, we’re now looking to do the same for our feline friends.
