Watch a stunned grandma get an adopted granddaughter as an early Christmas gift
A grandma's dream came true when she opened the door to a brand new family member.
Mary's daughter Michelle and her husband Dan had been trying to adopt a baby for more than four years. Adoption is often a family affair, and Mary shared their heartache as seven adoption attempts fell through.
However, just before Christmas, the couple heard that a healthy baby girl had been born and they had been chosen to adopt her. Ecstatic, Michelle and Dan dropped everything and drove from Illinois to a hospital in New Jersey where baby Nora was waiting for them.
Interstate adoption laws meant that officially they couldn't return home with the newborn for at least two weeks, so they'd have to stay in a hotel and likely miss spending Christmas with their family. However, just days before Christmas they got they got the incredible news that they'd been cleared to leave the state with Nora.
Despite their excitement, Michelle and Dan decided to keep their early return a secret. So when Mary opened the door to her house, she got a wonderful surprise.
