Game on: The best Prime Day Nintendo Switch deals — starting at just $7

Gaming should be fun, relaxing and accessible and the Nintendo Switch is, honestly, one of the few consoles that check each box. I won't call myself a gamer, but I enjoy indulging in a weekend Mario Kart race and other low-lift games that don't require much focus (that reminds me — I haven't checked my Animal Crossing "island" in months!). If you're a casual gamer like I am or consider yourself a pro, the Nintendo Switch covers all bases, and on the second and final day of Amazon's biggest sale of the year, there are tons of Prime Day Nintendo Switch deals on accessories, games and even consoles.

The original Nintendo Switch console is finally on sale and it only took the home stretch of Prime Day for it to show up to the party. This console is the one that started it all and it continues to sell out. Surprisingly, it's still in stock on Amazon and is even $25 off.

Over the past four months, its sale price rose to as high as $295, so this price isn't too shabby given its history.

"The Switch doesn't take itself too seriously (which I love)," one reviewer wrote. "What the Switch does is make gaming on the go effortless, fun for the average busy person and something you can really enjoy with your whole family."

The original Nintendo Switch console isn't on sale this Prime Day, but if you want to experience the system without breaking the bank, nab this smaller version for just $180. The controllers aren't removable on this one, but the gaming experience is very similar to the larger version. The blue, yellow and gray colors are also on sale.

Though this isn't the lowest the Nintendo Switch Lite has been all year, it's still more affordable than its longest-running historical sale price of $191. Snag it now before the price reverts.

"The Switch Lite doesn't get as much love as the original or OLED [versions], but I absolutely love it, and it does an amazing job when playing games and feels great in the hands," one impressed shopper wrote.

If you already own a Nintendo Switch console, here's a word of advice: invest in a screen protector! Like your phone, your Switch's screen can easily crack if you drop it, so it's better to be safe than sorry. This set comes with three tempered glass anti-scratch screen protectors so your console will look brand new for as long as you have it.

"Saved my Switch! I've had this on for three months," one reviewer wrote. "My Switch fell and crashed into something. [It] has two large cracks, but only on the screen [protector]. It was easy to put on as well."

Those with more spartan taste can't stop raving about this military-grade case from well-known and trusted tech accessories brand Tomtoc. Though it's slim and tested for harsh drops, it has room for both the console and 10 game cartridges. It's also the most affordable it's been in over four months.

"Very nice and sturdy case with enough padding, but not too much to make it bulky," one shopper said.

If you'd prefer hard-shell protection for your Switch, over 11,000 reviewers have said that this is the one to buy. Attention, you butterfingers out there: This case gives your device full coverage and all-around protection.

This bundle also includes two protective cases for the JoyCons, one tempered glass screen protector and six thumb stick caps. And, at 53% off, this is one of the most affordable Switch cases we've seen this year — it's also at an all-time low!

"What a perfect case. The plastic is sturdy enough not to snap when attaching/removing it from the console and perfect for preventing scuffs and scratches," one five-star reviewer wrote.

Sometimes, if you're playing for hours on end, your hands may cramp up a bit. Gamers with larger hands or those seeking extra comfort often invest in an ergonomic controller. Popular accessories brand Hori has designed this model specifically for the Nintendo Switch, making handheld gaming more comfortable. It essentially gives more space for your hands to spread so you can play with ease.

This controller's price has fluctuated by a few dollars over the past four months; right now you can grab the black version on sale.

"Great for big hands," one of over 19,000 five-star reviewers wrote. "I love my Switch, but these made [it] even better. I do not like the controllers that come standard with the Switch mostly because they are tiny in my hands... [This controller] oddly feels great — like I am holding a newspaper."

Our favorite part about the Nintendo Switch is you can take it with you on the go, or set it up to play on your TV. If you've become a fan of playing your games on the big screen, this controller is for you. With this accessory, you'll be able to create your own wireless controller by sliding both ends into the slots, and voila — you're comfortably and ergonomically gaming from your couch.

This No. 1 bestselling Switch accessory recently saw a drop to its lowest price. Now's the time to grab it at a nearly 35% discount.

"Fit great and don't wobble or move," one reviewer wrote. "The grip has a bit of a tactile feel and is more ergonomic than the Nintendo version."

If, like me, you prefer downloading your games digitally instead of buying and storing physical ones, do yourself a favor and invest in a microSD card. This is the one I bought a few years ago and it gives you a generous amount of extra storage. I avoid that "low storage" notification at all costs thanks to this little guy.

"Bought [this] for my Nintendo Switch," one fan wrote. "It is easy to pop in and performs well. The Switch recognized the disk right away and it fits into my Switch game case seamlessly."

One of the main reasons why I prefer the Switch over other consoles is its customization. You can personalize your gaming experience with different accessories, basically giving you more bang for your buck.

This exhaustive accessories bundle kit comes with screen protectors, a carrying case, racing wheels, Joycon grips, a charge station, earphones, a stylus and more. With all of these gems included, this is a home run gift for a Switch user in your life.

"Truly the biggest bang for your buck!" one shopper wrote. "I have never been so happy with gaming accessories ever!"

We will never judge you for having too many game cards. In fact, we say "the more the merrier" as far as that's concerned. Just keep them organized, okay? This Nintendo Switch cartridge case neatly stores 24 games and 48 micro SD cards so you'll always feel on top of your, er, game. Got way more than that? That's cool, this case is now almost 30% off — go ahead and buy two.

"The games are nice and snug without being a pain to get out," one shopper wrote. "The size is convenient for traveling. I bought one; buying more now."

Traveling gamers are huge fans of this all-in-one protective case — we're talking over 52,000 five-star fans! Made for both the standard and OLED Nintendo Switch consoles, this case has pouches and compartments for the device itself, the charging cable and up to eight games. It even has a handle that makes it easy to carry.

This portable, water-resistant case hasn't been this affordable since the beginning of May. In April, it even peaked as high as $22, so now is the best time to snag it before the price yo-yos again.

One grateful Switch owner wrote. "I was traveling to Colorado and knew I needed somewhere to store my Switch and controllers, but didn't want to break the bank. This case came in quickly and saved the day. ... Durable and compact design with more storage space than you’d expect."

It's no secret that Nintendo Switch games cost a pretty penny, so whenever you can find them on sale, it's best to jump at the opportunity. Sonic is one of the most iconic characters of all time and this adventure sees the hedgehog's world reimagined and refined. In fact, it's the No. 1 bestselling Switch game on Amazon right now — and it's over 60% off for Prime Day!

If you want to snag the game for your PlayStation 5, you're in even better luck as it's a whopping 70% off for that particular console — just $18!

"This game was easy to play right out of the box and reminded me of Sonic games on the Sega Genesis," one reviewer wrote. "The levels are fun with enough challenge for my kids to stay engaged."

Hot Wheels is one of those legacy games that's stood the test of time. It's been completely reimagined for the Nintendo Switch with stellar updated graphics, cars and tracks. At 60% off, this is one heck of deal and a killer time to add this iconic game to your collection.

"My son and I love the game," one parent wrote. "We love making our own cars and racing them."

This is one of my personal Switch faves. It's rarely ever on sale, so I'd recommend snagging it now while you can. I purchased it at full price about a year ago and wish I found it on sale for just $40 like it is this Prime Day. If you're a fan of the Super Mario franchise, though, this adventure game is sure to be your next obsession.

Over the past few months, the sale price rose as high as $49, so now is a great time to buy it.

"It's pure joy," one reviewer wrote. "In some ways, it's probably the greatest Mario game ever made."

If you're a Disney fan, this three-fer is right up your alley. Made for the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, this classic collection features The Jungle Book, Aladdin and The Lion King.

The price has been consistently around the $19 and $20 range for the past few months, but given how prices often fluctuate on Amazon, it may be best to take the leap now.

"Aladdin was my favorite game growing up," one nostalgic reviewer wrote. "Got it for my son, but I play more than him."

Here's another Switch favorite that over 19,000 shoppers gave a perfect five-star rating. This is one of those iconic adventure game staples that you must add to your collection. It's lighthearted, calming and easy to play on a day when you just need to unwind, but don't want to concentrate too intensely. The best way I can describe this game is "slow and steady."

In terms of price history, this one's fluctuated between $56 and $60 over the past four months, so this sale price is the perfect middle ground.

"Do you like playing video games where you are rewarded for exploring, experimenting and being creative?" one gamer wrote. "I can think of no better game to get than Tear of the Kingdom — few that are just as good."

For Prime Day, this popular Nintendo Switch game is the most affordable it's been in over four months. It has vintage graphics for that nostalgic '90s gaming feel and, since up to six players can participate at once, this will be a game the entire family can enjoy. If you enjoy simple games above anything else, this may just be the one for you.

"I can't say enough about this game," one five-star reviewer wrote. "The pacing is perfect, the speed is amazing. Your characters are fast, powerful, and can combo like nobody's business. Levels are beautifully designed, and I can't say enough about the amazing retro soundtrack. ... if you haven't played it yet, you're missing out."

Minecraft is one of the most iconic games you'll find for basically any console, and it's been remastered for the Nintendo Switch. Best of all, though, it's 35% off — that's $16 off its original price.

In case you're unfamiliar with the game, it's basically about placing blocks and going on adventures. It's simple, soothing — highly creative — and enjoyable for just about any experience level.

"My kids have had hours of entertainment on this game and are still finding out new things about the game," one pleased shopper wrote.
