I wear a size 16 to 18 and these are the best anti-chafing shorts for chub rub — they're under $35

These (surprisingly affordable) bike shorts will save your thighs this summer.

Temperatures across Canada are skyrocketing — but there’s always one thing that stops me from adding a slew of gorgeous summer dresses to my cart — thigh chafing, or as I like to call it, “chub rub.” I’ve been the proud owner of thick thighs for as long as I can remember, and as long as I can remember, I’ve also experienced the pain of my thighs rubbing together on hot summer days. My penchant for chub rub is in direct conflict with the fact that I love sundresses and own roughly 15 maxi skirts. For years, I’ve turned to bike shorts as my number one tool to keep my thighs gliding past each other, resigning myself to constantly readjusting and tugging at them as I go throughout my day — until now. This year I’m ready for hot girl walks, sweaty outdoor weddings and visiting my favourite theme parks in two styles of shorts that have me saying “goodbye!” to chub rub.

I found these biker shorts in a time of desperation: I was going to Disney World for a week and was plagued with painful memories of my last trip to the Sunshine State. Full disclosure: the last time I spent the day at a Disney park, I wore short shorts and spent the next two days with an icepack pressed between my inner thighs.

In an effort to prevent history from repeating itself, I found this three-pack of MOREFEEL Biker Shorts with an 8” inseam on Amazon. One pair of these bike shorts stood up to a ten-hour day at a theme park without needing a single tug to keep them in place. Since returning from my trip, I have not only enjoyed them under dresses and skirts, but they are thick and supportive enough to wear on their own for workouts and errands.

I typically wear a size 16, and I found the large/extra-large to be the perfect fit. However, I do wish that the brand offered a wider range of sizes.

Even though an eight-inch inseam means very little chance of chafing, not all my dresses and skirts are long enough to conceal them, which is why I wanted to try the Innersy Women's Slip Shorts.

They have more than 2,000 Amazon reviews, with shoppers calling them "cooling," "light, very soft and comfortable" and adding that they "don't bunch up or slide down."

These shorts have been a game-changer for me. Their 6.7-inch inseam is still long enough to cover what I want to be covered while still being short enough for a skirt with a slit or a short sundress. The shorts' high waist and hem do not budge, and their seamless design is undetectable under my unforgiving satin slip skirts.

Though the product does not claim to be for shaping, I do enjoy that it seems to smooth and contain all of my lumps and bumps. As a size 16, the XXL was a perfect fit, and I was delighted to see that their sizing goes to an XXXL.

I'm ecstatic about finding both of these pairs of shorts, and I can see them having many uses in building my outfits day after day. The Morefeel Bike Shorts continue to be my go-to for hopping on the walking pad on my lunch break and they're unbeatable at preventing chub rub on long days at theme parks.

However, if I had to choose a winner, it would be Innersy Slip Shorts. These shorts have truly changed the way I dress, and I've never been more comfortable in skirts or dresses in my entire life.
