Men Are Sharing The Things Women Do That Will Instantly Make Them Say "Check, Please!" While On A First Date

It's safe to say that dating in 2024 is wild and has been for some time. Although I met my boyfriend on a dating app, the concept still makes me shake my head sometimes. First dates can be a rather scary, nerve-wracking experience for most people, so it's always interesting to get some insight into what the opposite sex thinks is a turnoff on a first date. This Reddit thread is filled with men sharing their turnoffs. Here is what some had to say:

."Withholding signs of interest, playing hard to get. We'll think you aren't into us."

."I went out on a date with a girl, and at the end of the night, she suggested fast food at a specific place. We went through the drive-through, and when we pulled up to the window, the worker looked at her, and then at me, his whole expression changed. He suddenly looked sad and defeated. Then she started running her hands all over me as he took the money and handed us the food. Before we pulled off, she gave him a huge smile. It turns out the guy at the window was her ex, and she knew he was working the window that night. I never went out with her again."

."Expecting me to put in all the effort. Dating is a two-way street, and if you give me no effort, I'm moving on."

."Mentioning exes or trauma dumping on a date."

."Playing hard to get. I won’t talk to you after that, and if you come back and be all flirty, I think you’re playing with me, and I’m gonna be gone."

."Shit-talking men. Whether just shit-talking the gender or just shit-talking all the men in your life. Just imagine if you went on a date with a guy, and all he talked about was how shit women are and how terrible women in his life are. You'd probably think he's the problem."

."Playing hard to get. Women typically flirt using methods that would work on women. Women seem not to understand that men don't respond to the same things as women. So, when women play hard to get, men interpret that as rejection/disinterest and move on."

."When she starts digging into the reasons for my divorce into areas that I only tell my closest friends on a first date. Is she one of my closest friends on a first date? I don’t think so. Is she respecting my boundaries? Obviously not."

."Any extreme stance on any topic that triggers them so much so that they cannot have a rational discussion on said topic.

."Being an hour late or not showing up. I got stood up once. She texted me the next day and blamed me for her not showing up. I lost her number."

."Signaling of being overly materialistic."

."Them talking about themselves the entire time. This happened to me last night."

."I had a girl on a second date say that she went out with a guy from her gym between our dates, but 'even though he was so tall, I just spent the whole time thinking he wasn't you.' I promise it's not the compliment you may think it is. I don't care if you go on a first date with someone else while deciding if we like each other, but I don't want to hear about it."

."Thinking us men should pay for everything on the first date."

."Making jokes and theorizing about what our future kids might look like is a big no-no I've experienced on multiple first dates. Even if I earnestly believe you're joking, it's a major negative vibe shift, and the date probably isn't going to recover."
