Why don’t restaurants list a phone number?

Hey, Bud! Will [new restaurant] be doing to-go orders? Didn’t see a phone number.

Hey, Bud! Does [different new restaurant] have a phone for questions?

—Reader at instagram.com/budkennedy

Many restaurants no longer take phone calls at busy hours. Some don’t even list a phone.

New places get swamped at dinner with delivery orders that slow down the dining room. It’s easier if patrons order takeout on the website or app.

Or just go in. As Dorothy Hill of the long-gone Summerhill House diner on West Magnolia Avenue used to shout when she answered the phone, “Hi! Come on down and find out!” (Click.)
