A man suspects his fiancée is having an affair with her best friend.

The male friend in question asked Reddit users for advice on how to handle the situation in a post on the platform's "Wedding Drama" forum. He and the bride-to-be, both 26, have had a close relationship since they were 8 years old.

"[She is] the closest person to me with whom I have shared, cried and celebrated each part of my life and same from her side," the poster wrote. "We can proudly say we have each other’s back through thick and thin until now."

When the woman got engaged a few months ago, her best friend was "the happiest one." He is "very comfortable" with her family, so the father of the bride invited him to help with wedding preparations.

"After some days, in the flow she told her fiancé that she had a crush on me in [our] first year of college but we were never a thing," the man wrote. "We mutually agreed to that and remain closest friends."

At the time, he wasn't romantically attracted to the bride because he got the kind of vibe from her that "people get from their bestie." Now, that continues to be "the same relation" they maintain.

But learning about the bride's past crush on her best friend has caused the groom to feel "insecure."

"He thinks we had an affair and took his parents to her home to clarify about us," the poster explained. "Her parents told him 'we trust him, they are just friends,' but he asked her 'WILL YOU LEAVE HIM AFTER MARRIAGE?' No contact, nothing."

"Feeling like [we're] getting an allegation of something we [were] never part of," he said.

Although the poster thinks that the bride's parents mostly convinced the groom that there was never any affair, the groom still isn't happy and asked the bride to go no-contact with her friend after the wedding. Now the poster wants advice on what to do.

Some Reddit users in the comments section suggested that the poster try to spend more time with the groom in order to ease his concerns about infidelity and to build a better relationship.

"Ask her fiancé to hang out and get to know one another. That's the only thing I can think of that will save your friendship," one person wrote. "He has to know that you guys were never together or he won't ever be comfortable."

Other Redditors thought that this is an issue that can only be solved between the bride and groom.

"Her fiancé is way overreacting. So you're not allowed to be friends with people you've once had a crush on?" another user commented in part. "Unfortunately, this isn't something you can resolve. It's between her and her fiancé. I think it would be really sad for her to leave an important, longstanding friendship behind over someone's immaturity (he got his parents involved??). But that might happen if her fiancé can't get over himself."
