Watch this courageous police K9 complete her final detection challenge before retirement
A police K9 enjoyed a fun-packed finale on her final day of work.
K9 Danis, affectionately known as Tessa, was in for a special surprise on her last day of service with the NYPD’s Counterterrorism Bureau.
The unit’s traditional K9 retirement ceremony requires the dog to detect one last scent to signal the end of its career. And Tessa proved just as sharp as ever, detecting the scent in double-quick time before being showered with tennis balls to chase by bureau workers to celebrate her service.
“We wish Tessa and all of today’s retirees many happy days and all the tennis balls their hearts desire,” the NYPD said.
